Six distinguished litterateurs have been honoured with “Mohakobi Alaol Literary Award -2019” this year for their outstanding contributions in literary works.
The recipients are: poet Altaf Hossain for his poetry ‘Boli Je Tarona Hocche’; novelist Wasi Ahmed for his novel ‘Megh Pahar’; writer Sukumar Biswas for his war on independence story ‘Muktijuddhe Riffles O Onnanno Bahini’; poet Asad Chowdhury for his poem ‘Ghore Fera Soja Noy’ ; writer Rafiqur Rashid for his short story ‘Eishob Jibon Japon; and novelist Hari Shankar Jaladas for his book ‘Jolputro’. Faridpur Sahittya O Sangskriti Unnayan Sangstha ( FSOSUS), a leading and well known cultural organisation in the district has given the awards to the litterateurs in two- day Literary Festival concluded recently.
Among six, poet Altaf Hossain, Rafiqur Rashid and novelist Harishankar Jaldas received their respective awards on the occasion. Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain MP , Awami League Advisory Council Member and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of LGRD and Cooperatives handed over the awards to the recipients.
The recipients were given mementos of FSOSUS and a cheque amounting to TK ten thousand each for Alaol Literacy Award-2019.
President of FSOSUS and Freedom Fighter Abul Fayaz Shah Newaz presided over the concluding session while Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar, Superintendent of Police Md. Alimuzzaman spoke as special guests.
Earlier Director General of Bangla Academy poet Habibullah Sirajee inaugurated the conference .
President of Bangladesh Writers Club poet Nurul Huda , Chairman of Faridpur Zila Parishad Lokman Hossain Mridha, Director of Secondary andHigher Secondary Education Professor Sarkar Abdul Mannan ,Rajshahi University professor Mostofa Tarikul Hasan, Deputy Director of Bangla Academy Tapan Bagchi and Journalist Arun Bosu , FSOSUS secretary Abu Sufian Chowdhury Kusshol , cultural activist Asma Akter Mukta, among others, addressed the opening ceremony. Besides’ poets, writers, columnists and literary connoisseurs across the country attended the literary function.
FSOSUS has introduced Alaol Literary Award since 1975 in commemoration of great Bengali poet of medieval age Alaol .
