6 killed as train hits auto-rickshaw in Jamalpur

At least six people, including four members of a family, were killed as a commuter train smashed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Nayanagar Digholbari level-crossing in Melandaha upazila on Monday.
One of the deceased was identified as auto-rickshaw driver Hashu, 30, of Nayanagar of the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Melandha Police Station Nasimul Haque said the Dhaka-bound commuter train from Dewanganj hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw as it tried to cross the unauthorised level-crossing at around 2 pm, leaving all the CNG passengers dead on the spot.
The OC said the bodies were found scattered on
both sides of the rail tracks.
The accident took place when Hashu was going to Melandha Bazar along with his family members and relatives, he said. On information, police rushed to the spot for recovering the bodies.
