Six students from different faculties of Jagannath University (JnU) have been selected for University Grants Commission’s Prime Minister Gold Medal for their outstanding academic results in honours examinations, reads a statement issued by UGC officials on their website.
This year University Grants Commission has selected a total 172 students across the country for the award.
The award recipient students are – Mehdi Hasan of Microbiology and Biotechnology Department under Life and Earth Science Faculty, Selim Hossen of Mathematics Department under Science Faculty, Md. Omor Faruq of Islamic Studies Department under Arts Faculty, Sharmin Sultana of Management Department under Business Faculty, Umme Habiba of Social Work Department under Social Science Faculty and Alomgir Hossain of Law Department under Law Faculty of the university.
Meanwhile, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina would hand over the medals to the students in the upcoming prize giving ceremony.
The authorities of University Grants Commission have been giving Prime Minister Gold Medal Award since 2006 for encouraging students in higher education.
