UNB, Patuakhali :
Six fishermen sustained bullet injuries as a gang of pirates attacked at three fishing boats at Boyarchar in the Bay of Bengal adjacent to the Sundarbans early Tuesday.
The injured fishermen were identified as Hasan Ali, 37, Mannan Mirza, 35, Ameer Hossain, 38, Faysal, 38, Shah Alam, 40, and Kaium, 41–all of them are residents of Charfashion upazila of Bhola district and Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur district.
The pirates also abducted at least 10 fishermen from the boat during the robbery.
In-charge of Kuakata river police camp Sub-inspector Sanjay Kumar Mandal, quoting the injured fishermen, said some pirates suddenly attacked three fishing boats-FB Marjia, FB Jahanara and FB Marjia Akter Rina-early Tuesday.
The bullet wounded fishermen reached Kuakata on Tuesday morning, the SI added.
They were sent to a local hospital.
