The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a night-long drive seized 2.25kg lot of cocaine worth around Tk 22 crore from Moilapota area in Khulna city on Friday night.
They also detained six members of a Narcotics Smuggling Syndicate during the drive.
The arrested men are cocaine-peddling ringleader Arifur Rahman alias Sagir, Sohel Rana, Bikash Chandra Biswas, SM Ershad Hossain, Biksah Chandra Mondol and
Fazlur Rahman Fakir, said Khondker Rafiqul Islam, Commanding Officer of RAB-6.
“Acting on a tip-off, the RAB arrested Sohel Rana first on Friday night and recovered 225 grams of cocaine,” the RAB CO said.
Based on information given by him, Sagir was picked up from his residence in the city. After Sagir’s arrest, Bikash Biswas was arrested from a village in Rupsha Upazila, the RAB official said.
The rest of the cocaine was found with Bikash.
“The other accuseds were arrested later” he said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
