A court hereon Thursdayconvicted six people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing a businessman in 2012.
The convicts are Mokhlesur Rahman, his son Ariful Islam, Jalil Bepari, Siddique Bepari, Alamgir Bepari and Sekandar Ali of Khamar Mamodpur village in Palshbari upazila. Of them, Ariful was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, Zillur Rahman, a businessman ofKhamar Mamodpur village, was beaten to death by the convicts over a land dispute on February 5, 2012.
Later, Zillur’s wife Monwara Begum filed a case with Palshbari Police Station.
After examining records and witnesses, Gaibandha Additional District and Sessions Judge Shafiqul Islam handed down the verdict.
