A total of six students of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism and the Department of Development Studies of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Development Communication Fellowship”. The Centre on Budget and policy of DU organised this program in cooperation with the Asia Foundation, Bangladesh.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed fellowships among the students as chief guest at a function was held on Monday at the administrative bulding.
Director of Centre on Budget and policy of DU Prof Dr M Abu Eusuf presided over the program while Dean of the Faculty of Social Science Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Chairperson of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Prof Akhter Sultana, Chairman of the Department of Television and Film Studies Prof Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan also addressed it.
DU Vice-chancellor in his speech urged the students to come forward with patriotism and humanitarian values to develop socioeconomic condition of general people of the country. He said, DU students have to preserve the values and spirits of our Liberation War. He also urged the students to raise strong voice against the on-going violence and destructive activities in the country.
