6 BNP- backed councilors of BCC suspended after chargesheet

Local Government Ministry suspended six BNP backed councilors of Barisal City Corporation as charge sheet submitted against them in sabotage cases lodged in different times during anti-government movements.
Wahiduzzaman, Chief Executive Officer of BCC, acknowledging the facts said a letter signed by Mahmudul Alam, Deputy Secretary of LGRD Ministry, reached at BCC in this regard on Tuesday.
They were suspended as per section 12(1) of BCC Act of 2009 after charge sheets in criminal cases submitted against them as accused, the CEO of BCC explained. The suspended six councilors were: Syed Akbar, city BNP joint secretary and councilor of ward-7, Harunor Rashid, Kotwali BNP leader and councilor of ward-9, Mir Zahidul Kabir, city BNP organising secretary and district president of Swechchhwasbok Dal and councilor of ward-18, Firoz Ahmed, city BNP vice president and councilor of ward- 24, Ziauddin Shikdar, acting secretary of city BNP and councilor of ward-25 and Fariduddin, Kotwali BNP leader and councilor of ward no-26 of BCC.
Acknowledging the facts BCC mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal said during the suspension period another councilor will took charge of the ward as per law. On other hand, suspended councilor and acting secretary of city BNP Zia Uddin Sikdar said police filed politically motivated case against them and submitted charge sheet intentionally. They will go to higher court against the suspension order.
