Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained six suspected members of a fraud gang, who posed themselves as Customs officials.
Those arrested are Nurul Haque, 57, Sheikh Alam, 43, Firoj Alam, 57, Mosharrof Hossain, 54, Masud Rana, 43, and Renu Miya alias Roni, 38.
They were arrested from Tolarbagh area of Mirpur on Wednesday.
RAB-4 Commanding Officer (CO) Chowdhury Monzurul Kabir said,
“The fraud ring amassed crore of Taka from 50 victims and have been defrauding people for the past fifteen to sixteen years.”
The arrests were made in a 10-hour drive started at 8:00pm from Mirpur in Dhaka on Tuesday night, the RAB officials said.
