55 more coronavirus deaths, 3,027 cases in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered 3,027 more coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours till Tuesday, raising the total to 168,645.
Besides, the total deaths in the country have jumped past 2,150 to reach 2,151 with the deaths of 55 more Covid-19 patients during the period.
Of the deceased, 46 are men and 9 are women. This is the joint 2nd biggest jump in daily coronavirus deaths in the country since the first death was reported on March 18 with 55 more reported on July 5.
Highest 64 deaths were registered in the country on June 30 while 3rd highest 53 deaths were recorded on June 16.
Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the information in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon.
She said 1,953 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 78,102.
Prof Nasima said 13,173 samples were tested in 74 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 876,480 samples have so far been tested in the country.
Also Read: Covid-19: Fear over rise in animal-to-human diseases In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 22.91 percent while the infection rate 19.31 against total tests carried out so far, she said.
The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 46.31 while the mortality rate is 1.21 percent.
On Monday, Bangladesh reported 44 deaths from coronavirus and 3,201 cases. Meanwhile, coronavirus cases have reached 11,747,386 around the world as of Tuesday noon.
Besides, the virus has so far claimed the lives of 540,836 people globally, according to Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 4,464,786 patients, 4,406,901 are in mild condition while 57,885 are in serious or critical condition. So far, 6,741,764 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 3,040,833 and 132,979 respectively while Brazil is in the 2nd position with 1,626,071 cases and 65,556 deaths.
