Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Detective Branch (DB) arrested at least 54 drug traders on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the ongoing anti-narcotics drives in the capital from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning.
Detective Branch of the DMP in association with the members of local police stations of the city carried out the drives separately starting from 6:00 am on Wednesday.
During the drives, the law enforcers recovered 4,005 pieces of contraband Yaba pills, around 300 grams of heroin, six kg of hemp, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
A total of 39 cases were filed with different police stations under Narcotics Control Act, DC added.
