53 killed in 11 months in Jhenaidah

At least 53 persons were killed in Jhenaidah in 11 months of 2015-16 due to social conflict, political unrest, border security forces of neighboring India and reported “gunfight”.
Most of the death happened due to “gunfight” incidents. Of them the bodies of seven persons were found out side the district.
According to police source sa and some other sources like newspapers, although no killing incident took place in Kotchandpiur upazila during the time, a police constable Solaiman Hossain sustained bullet injury during his duty hours with the weapon on April 4 last.
According to the soiurces, 19 persons were killed in Jhenaidah Sadar, six in Kaliganj, eight in Moheshpur and Harinakundu upazila each and twelve in Sailkupa.
The sensational three children were burnt alive at village Kabirpour of Sailkupa municipality by their uncle Iqbal Mia. A homoeopathic physician and covcverterd Christian Khawza Samir was chopped to death at his chamber at Belekhal Bazar under Jhenaidah Sadar upazila.
Another homoeopathic physician, also a believer of Shia religion Abdur Razzaque was killed at Kaliganj. A Hindu priest Ananda Gopal Ganaaguli, an innocent religious believer was chopped and gunned down at Karatipara village and a tempele attendant Shymanada Das was gunned down in fro-nt of his shelter widely known as Ashram at Kastisaagra village in same upazila.
The middle-east based Islamic Styate (IS) initially admitted the killing incidenmts of the four. The police denied the claim of the IS. Later the police and other law enforcers and investigating agencies had detected the clues and arrestyed the criminals, the sources said.
The senior o-fficuals of the Ambassy of India in Dhaka, a number of ministers, central leaders of Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad and some other forums visited Jhenaidah that threw law enforcers in an embarrassing situation then, although the police handled the situation with efficiency conducting drives against the criminals including militants. Laaater the deepeuty inspector general of police in Khulna range SM Maniruzzaman and Police Super Altaf Hossain found the involvement of the Jamaat-Shibir with the killing incidents of two different believers and Hindu leaders in Jhenaidah.
