52 deaths by dengue confirmed

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday confirmed five more dengue deaths across the country sending the official death toll to 52 by the mosquito-borne disease this year.
Death Review Committee of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) of the DGHS confirmed these deaths after scrutinising more eight reported dengue deaths. The Committee so far reviewed 88 death reports from 173 cases submitted to be scrutinized.
DGHS’s Health Crisis Management Centre’s Assistant Director Dr Ayesa Akter revealed the latest data to the media.  
IEDCR officials on Sunday said that a total of 169 death cases have been reported by dengue across the country. Of them, 80 cases were scrutinised by its death review committee.
And of them, the review committee confirmed the death of 47 persons.
Besides, a child was died of dengue at capital’s City Hospital on Monday.
The deceased was not identified until filing the report till 9.00pm.
A total of 1,251 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 577 patients were admitted in Dhaka, and 674 in districts outside Dhaka.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued on Monday, said the number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined is 5,562.
A total of 3,081 patients are currently receiving treatment in different government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas a total of 2,481 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the release said.
Since January 1 till August 26, a total of 64,765 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 59,030 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
