The health authorities on Thursday announced the detection of 3,946 new coronavirus cases in the span of 24 hours and recovery of 1,829 people.
With this, the total number of recoveredpatients rose to 51,495 in the country.
Since March 8, when the first cases were reported, Bangladesh has carried out 6,78,443 tests and identified 126,606 Covid-19 patients.
The death tally climbed to 1,621 on Thursday as 39 more people lost their lives in the last 24 hours.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.
Country’s coronavirus testing labs carried out tests on 17,999 samples in the last 24 hours.
The detection rate of new patients on Thursday has been recorded at 21.92 percent.
Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 40.67 percent and the mortality rate is 1.28 percent in the country.
Among the deceased, 32 were male and seven were female. “Their age-based analysis says, two were aged between 21 and 30 years, one between 31 and 40, seven between 41 and 50, nine between 51 and 60, 12 between 61 and 70, seven between 71 and 80, and one more patient was aged between 91 and 100 years,” Dr Nasima said.
Ten patients died in Dhaka division, 10 in Chattogram division, five in Rajshahi division, five in Khulna division, two in Barishal division, three in Mymensingh division, and four more patients died in Rangpur division.
Twenty eight people died in hospitals across the country while 11 others died at homes,” she added.
“Unless we ensure that 100 percentpeople are wearing masks outdoors, coronavirus cannot be repelled,” Dr Nasima said.
Across the country, 645 more people were taken to isolation in the last 24 hours while 374 were released. Currently, 13,429 people are in isolation.
During the same period, another 2,656 people were home and institutionally quarantined while 2,618 were released. At present 63,998 people are quarantined across the country.
