50-year plan for industrial sector stressed

Leaders of the business community on Monday urged the government to take a plan for 50 years in order to utilize the huge potential of the industrial sector, like leather, electronic and garments industries.
The leaders of the Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) came up with the call while speaking at a meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at his Secretariat office in the city, said a press release.
As per the election manifesto of Awami League, Humayun said the government will turn villages into towns for creating employment opportunities and improvement of the living standard of the people. “The targets of the present government have already been specified in the election manifesto,” he said, adding that the government has taken necessary steps to implement the targets quickly.
The minister advised the leaders of BGCCI to submit a comprehensive integrated proposal to develop the emerging industrial sector. Among others, BGCCI President Omar Sadat, its Senior Vice-President Golam Morshed and Vice-President M Moin Uddin Mazumder were present at the meeting.
