About 50 RMG workers of a factory in Mouchak area of Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur fell ill after taking second doses of Sinopharm’s Covid-19 vaccine.
It was seen on the spot that about 30-40 sick workers were seen on the floor of Mouchak Popular Hospital on Thursday noon. All of them were workers of Mouchak Knit Composite Limited.
According to workers, the vaccination campaign began around 10:00am at the factory. Suddenly many workers developed sickness and some workers fell down on the floor. Later, they were admitted to various hospitals and clinics.
However, the hospital authority refused to make any comments about the issue.
Md Kayruzzaman, Civil Surgeon of Gazipur said, it’s not a serious matter. Everybody is likely to become normal within few minutes.
According to my date, there are 54 workers in the hospital right now, Civil Surgeon said.
Health expert Professor Farhad Manzoor “said that vaccinations have a side effect,” It can be different from person to person. It may cause dizziness, nausea, fever as well as body aches. Some may even become unconscious.
However, it is a temporary symptom. Rest for a few hours can make things normal.
In this case, paracetamol can also be taken with the advice of a doctor, Professor Farhad added.
Meanwhile, efforts to contact the director of the health department about the reasons of the illness of the factory workers after the vaccination could not be reached.
