A 50 MW Picking Power Plant has been set up at Santahar Station in Adamdighi, the ancient Railway Junction of Bogura. This upazila has always lagged behind in terms of development. It is learned that the Picking Power Plant (Emergency Based Power Generation Center) has been set up at Santahar Saheb Para in Adamdighi Upazila at a cost of Tk 3 cr. Substation construction and a dozen feeder lines have been constructed. As a result, the power distribution and distribution system has reached a strong position. The number of PDB subscribers in Adamdighi Upazila alone has now exceeded 42,000. About four years ago, PDB and REB authorities included this upazila in the list as it enjoyed 100% electricity facility.
The construction of the Santahar Power Plant, built at a cost of about 3 cr was designed and built by a company called Dong Fang Electric International Corporation of Ganchin. According to the sources of this organization, the organization signed an agreement with the Power Development Board of Bangladesh on 31 December 2010. Work started on January 31, 2011. Farhad Hossain, Executive Engineer working on the Picking Power Plant project, told this correspondent that the Ministry of Power was satisfied that the work on the Santahar plant was much faster than other centers in the country, including Katakhali in Rajshahi. The power generated by this plant is connected to the national grid. Adamdighi Upazila A-League President and Upazila Chairman Sirajul Islam Khan Raju said that the power system of the area, Rantaghat has been developed in setting up this center. Many have been in the workplace. Immediately the development success of the present government has become visible.
Nesco Executive Engineer Rokuzzaman confirmed the veracity of the information and said in the present Adamdighi Upazila, villages and towns are almost monotonous in the light of electricity and solar. It goes without saying that there is no load shedding in this upazila. Adamdighi has been declared as the present 100% electrified upazila.
