A mobile court on Monday jailed five madrasa teachers for two years for providing answers to Dakhil examinees during a multiple choice question (MCQ) test at an exam centre in Brahmanbaria’s Ashuganj upazila.
The mobile court led by Ashuganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nazimul Haider handed out the sentence and also fined each of them Tk 10,000. The teachers at Ashuganj Sar Karkhana School and College centre were caught red-handed while preparing answers to the MCQ test and supplying those to the examinees, the UNO said.
The convicted are Mazharul Islam, 42, and Shafiqul Islam, 35, from Chorchartola Islamia Alim Madrasa, Md Mohiuddin, 38, from Kholapara Omed Ali Shah Dakhil Madrasa, Kabir Hossain, 40, from Talshahar Karimiya Fazil Madrasa, and Abbas Ali, 50, from Panishwar Madaniya Gausia Madrasa.
The mobile court also relieved the examination centre secretary and hall super of their duties over the negligence.
