5 students expelled for making derogatory comments on Bangabandhu in Cox’s Bazar

Five students of Cox’s Bazar Government College have been expelled for making derogatory comments on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on social networking site Facebook.
The students are: Tanjima Akhter, Shamim Rana, Syed Alam, Arafat Jannat and Farhana Tasnim, who are first year honours students of Political Science Department of the college.
Confirming the matter, College principal AKM Fazlul Karim Chowdhury said they have been making derogatory comments on Bangabandhu for the last couple of days.
“When the matter came to the knowledge of the college authority, an urgent meeting of academic council took the decision to expel them on August 19,” the principal said.
District Chhatra League President Ishtiaq Ahmed Jay said Bangabandhu is the highest respectable person in the country; no one should make indecent comment on Father of the Nation.
He thanked the college authority for taking the decision to expel the students.
