5 service providers to be under ACC net

UNB, Dhaka :The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has constituted five special teams to keep watch on five service-providing public institutions, aiming to help check corruption in these institutions.”The Commission has already announced separate work orders for the five teams. Five directors of the Commission will lead their respective teams,” ACC Secretary Abu M Mustafa Kamal told UNB.A team, led by ACC director AKM Jayed Hossain, will keep watch on the Health Directorate while Syed Iqbal Hossain’s team on Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk), Manjur Ahmed’s team on the National Housing Authority, Khandaker Enamul Baser’s team on Land Record and Survey Department, Mir Zainul Abedin Shebly’s team on the Education Engineering Department and the Secondary, and Higher Secondary Directorate. Mustafa Kamal said, the teams will make their recommendations after reviewing rules and regulations of these organisations, and the Commission will send the recommendations to the heads of these institutions asking them to take steps to check graft and irregularities in their respective agencies. He said the teams will provide their recommendations within the next 30 working days.In 2012, the ACC formed 11 teams to conduct probe into the graft allegations emerged in 11 government institutions, but the teams did not bring any fruitful results in checking the corruption. Later, two taskforces were formed dissolving these teams, but the corruption scenario remains unchanged.
