A court here on Monday placed five people on a three-day remand for their suspected involvement in the killing of a couple in Singra upazila.
Police arrested the five suspects from Shaol village in the upazila on Sunday night.
They are Emdadul Haque Kalu, Makbul Hossain, Mamtaz Ali, Abdul Khalek and Shamsul Haque.
Judge of Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court Israt Jahan Munni passed the order after officer-in-charge of Singra Police Station Motaleb Hossain, the investigation officer of the case, produced the five before the court with a seven-day remand prayer for each.
Earlier, a couple-Noni Gopal Kundu,70, a freedom fighter and a resident of Shaol village, and his wife Chitra Rani Kundu,62, were strangulated to death by unidentified miscreants early Sunday.
Gobinda Kundu, brother-in-law of the deceased Noni Gopal Kundu, filed a case against some unidentified people.
