Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued five people from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district early Friday while they were being trafficked to Malaysia illegally.
The five oversees job seekers were identified as Zamin Uddin, 26, Didar, 23, Amanul, 34, Belal, 27, and Mansur, 30, hailing from different areas of Cox’s Bazar district.
Tipped off, a team from Coast Guard Station Shahpori of Teknaf launched a drive at Dangar Para on the coast of Bay of Bengal around 2:30am and rescued the five people as were taken there for being sent
to Malaysia through illegal marine route, said a Bangladesh Coast Guard press release. The coast guard team also arrested an alleged human trafficker, Enamul, 27, along with Tk 3.69 lakh from the spot. The rescued people and the arrestee were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station.
