A robber gang of five members were arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Jatrabari in the capital city on Thursday.
They are Raja Mia, 48, Srikanta alias Badol Das, 55, Masud, 40 , Kalam, 42, and Shamim, 35.
RAB-11 confirmed the news in a press release issued on Thursday .
The gang has been involved with crimes like banks and jewellery shops robbery in different areas of the country including the
capital city. On March 10, they robbed two jewellery shops at Hazi Ahsanullah Super Market in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj. They looted Tk 2 lakh and 455 bhori of gold ornaments.
Earlier, three of them including Kalam and Masud joined the said super market as night guards using false names and addresses to commit robbery. They also robbed a bank in Joypurhat and looted Tk 1,96,00,000 on September 26, 2014.
RAB arrested Shamim, Raja and Badol after the occurrence. The dacoits again started the same criminal activities after release from jail on bail.
However, the gang has some 10 to 12 members, RAB said in the press release. Legal action is under process against them, added the press release.
