Three people were killed and two others injured in separate incidents in the city and district on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as truck driver Abdul Kashem, 34, of Feni district, security guard Mohammad Kashem Mia, 50 and Amir Hossain Bhuiyan, 16, of Comilla district.
Police said truck driver Abdul Kashem and security guard Mohammad Kashem Mia were killed and two others injured when an oil tanker knocked the truck from behind while overtaking in Choto Kamaldaha area on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway under Mirsharai Upazila around 7am. Police detained both the vehicles.
Meanwhile, Doublemooring thana police recovered the body of Amir Hossain Bhuiyan from a rented bachelor residence in Monsurabad area which was hanging with a ceiling fan. Mohiuddin Selim, officer-in-charge of Doublem-ooring thana, said the reason behind the incident could not be traced out till now. Police is investigating into the incident.
UNB from Chittagong reports: A paper mill worker was killed in his factory when he was caught up in the machine at Roufabad under Bayazid Bostami Police Station of the port city on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Rakib, 21, son of Abdul Mannan of the same police station area.
Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector Md Alauddin Talukdar of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) outpost, said that Rakib got stuck in machine while he was on morning duty around 6.30am, leaving him injured seriously.
Later, he was admitted to CMCH where doctors declared him dead, the SI added.
Another reports adds: A child labourer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his mess at Monsurabad under Double Mooring Police Station on Monday night.
Amir Hossen Bhuiyan, 15, an employee at an aluminium goods manufacturing factory, used to live with his co-worker in the mess, said police.
Amir on Monday morning told his co-worker cum roommate that he would be late for work but did not turn up there.
Upon returning, the roommate broke open the house door, which was locked from inside, and found Amir hanging, police added.
Police sent the body to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. An unnatural death case filed.
