5 killed in road crashes

At least five persons including a woman in city were killed and several others injured in separate road crashes across the country on Sunday.
In Bandarban, two persons were killed and five others injured in a tragic road accident in Alikadam upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Didar, 23, and
Abu Taleb, 24. Both persons were the residents of Cox’s Bazar.
Alikadam Upazila Parishad Chairman Mohammad Abul Kalam said, a human hauler, locally known as ‘Chander Gari’ overturned on Thanchi road in the upazila, leaving two passengers dead on the spot and several others injured.
Being informed, members of army and Fire Service rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
In Dhaka, a woman was killed and her son injured when a pickup van rammed into their rickshaw near Kakrail intersection area on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Masuda Begum, 35, wife of one Mofazzal Hawladar and her injured son Jisan Islam Mahin, 9.
Bachu Miah, Inspector of DMCH Police Outpost told the media that “Masuda died on the spot while her minor son Mahin was left injured. Pedestrians near the area rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
The body has been kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy, inspector added.
In Narsingdi, a pedestrian named Jasim Uddin,62, was killed when a passenger bus rammed him in Hatirdia area of Monohordi upazila of the district on Saturday midnight.
Moniruzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Monohordi Police Station confirmed the news to the media.
In Satkhira, a motorcyclist named Hazrat Ali,45, was killed when a truck hit him in Kashempur area under Sadar Upazila of the district early Sunday.
Mostafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station told the matter to media.
