Five people, including two children, were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Pabna and Kushtia districts on Tuesday.In Pabna, two children were killed and two others injured by a lightning strike in Ishwardi upazila on Tuesday evening.The deceased were identified as Siam, 10, son of Rezaul Karim, and Sabuj, 11, son of Sri Shawpan Kumar, both hailing from Ruppur Bazar.Family sources said a streak of thunderbolt struck four children while they were playing in a field adjacent to their home around 7pm, leaving Siam and Sabuj dead and two others injured on the spot.The injured were rushed to a local hospital.In Kushtia, three people, including two women, were killed by lightning strike in different parts of Doulatpur upazila on Tuesday night.Quoting family members, police said Liton Reza, 20, son of Hazrat Ali of Ramna Police Station said the body was handed over to the family members without postmortem as per the permission of the authorities concerned.Quoting police, hospital sources said a speedy covered van hit the motorbike of Noyon in front of Balaka Bhaban in the Airport area around 4am. He died on the spot.Sub-inspector Fayaz Uddin of Airport Police Station recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.In another incident, a covered van hit a motorcycle on Khilgaon Flyover at about 5am, leaving three motorcyclists-Mainuddin, Shanta and Imran-critically injured.They were rushed to the DMCH where Shanta was declared dead at about 5:50am while Mainuddin succumbed to his injuries at about 10am.In the other incident, the unidentified man was hit by a speedy train near Kuril Flyover around 10am, leaving him dead on the spot.The body was sent to the DMCH for postmortem.
