5 killed, 26 hurt in road crashes

Five people were killed and 26 others injured in separate road accidents in Munshiganj and Mymensingh districts on Monday.
In Munshiganj, three people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on Dhaka-Mawa highway at Chalti Para in Sirajdikhan upazila on Monday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Kutubuddin Ahmed, Additional Superintendent of Police, said the accident took place in the area at noon when the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Hilsha Paribahan’ collided head on with the Mawa-bound ‘Gungun Paribahan’ bus, leaving three people dead on the spot and 20 others injured.
The injured were rushed to different hospitals and clinics in Dhaka.
In Mymensingh, two people were killed and six others injured when a bus rammed a human hauler on Mymensingh-Tangail highway at Kathgala in the outskirts of the town on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Sajib, 27, son of Osman Ali of Taltala and Rezaul Karim, 35, son of Abdul Mannan of Rahmatpur area of the district.
Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said the accident took place when a Tangail-bound bus hit a human hauler, leaving its eight passengers injured.
The injured were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where Sajib and Rezaul succumbed to their injuries.
