Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive detained five members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj districts on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Aminul Islam, 32, Mosharraf Hossain Mursalin, 22, Ismail Hossain, 32, Rafiqul Islam, 40 and Abdul Matin, 40.
The elite force arrested them from a river island
between Godagari and Chapainawabganj Kodalakati, said RAB-5 Deputy Commander Major Ashraful Islam.
The RAB team recovered raw materials used to make crude bombs, weapons, bullets and leaflets during the raid, he said.
The JMB members were planning to carry out acts of sabotage in the area, the RAB official said.
“We are taking legal actions against them,” he said.
