A mobile court on Saturday night sentenced five people, including a woman, to ten days’ imprisonment for registering early marriage in Char Bhabanipur village in Sujanagar upazila.
The convicts were bridegroom Jilal, son of Abu Bakar, a resident of Charpara village, Jilal’s sister Niluf,20, brother-in-law Jewel, 25 and two friends Faruk, 24, and Ariful , 25.
Police said Moyser Sheikh, a resident of Boroipara village, took his daughter Ifa Khatun, 15, to their grandparent’s house in the evening to register marriage with Jilal.
On information, a team of police led by officer-in-charge of Sujanagar police station Habibur Rahman conducted a raid at the village and arrested five people.
