A court in Chittagong sent five persons including 3 suspended food inspectors allegedly involved with the rice scandal to jail custody on Friday following the case filed by the Anti -corruption commission Chittagong chapter.
These alleged persons were presented before the court of Majistrate Abu Salem Md.Noman of Chittagong magistracy on Friday.
PP of Anti Corruption court Advocate Kazi Sanowar Ahmed Lovelu told this correspondent that counsel of the accused prayed for bail but govt counsel opposed it .
And hence, court ordered to send them to jail custody, court sources said.
Sources said due to irregularities and unfairmeans in distributing the rice in govt fixed fair price, ACC squad rounded up three food inspectors and two dealers on Thursday.
The 3 food officials are – Shuvajit Dey, Md.Shahnewaz and Md. Shahabuddin and dealers identified as Md. Maruf and Md. Jahangir Alam.
Mentionable that these food inspectors were suspended from service recently following for alleged involvement in misappropriating the govt foodgrains in connivance with the dealers, sources said.
