5 held with 11, 400 yaba tablets

Police in separate raids on Saturday arrested five d drug peddlers including a physician along with 11, 400 pieces of yaba tablets from different parts of Teknaf here.
The arrestees are: Physician Debasish Ranjon,40, an employee of a foreign firm ACF, Md Sohag,30, son of late Mufizur Rahman of Purbapankhali village under Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, Md Zafor Iqbal,30, son of Nurul Islam of Alinagar area of Bhola district and Md Yusuf, 32, son of Rajob Ali of Chargaji village of Bhola
Acting on a tip off, police seized a covered van of a cement company and arrested three persons including its driver and seized 7,000 pieces of yaba tablets from their possession around 12 noon, officer-in-charge Ataur Rahman of Teknaf Police Station told BSS.
They later arrested Debasish from an area adjacent to Rohingya camp along with 1,000 yaba tablets around 1pm, he also said.
A case was lodged to this connection.
Earlier on February 5, Bangladesh Navy seized 15 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets, the biggest ever consignment, at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port.
Another reports adds: Police rounded up one drug peddler from Kazir dewri area in city on Sunday night. The drug peddler identified as Md. Abul Kalak (22). Police recovered 3400 pieces of yaba tablets from his possession. Police sources said Abul Kalam is a driver of CNG taxi.
The CNG of Abul Kalam was also detained by police. Kotwali thana officer- in- charge Md. Nezamuddin told that Driver Abul Kalam was proceeding to love lane from Kazir Dewri and suspecting the movement of CNG taxi, police on duty infront of BNP city office obstructed his way and detained the driver.
The passenger of the taxi fled away quickly from the spot. Police on checking the CNG taxi recovered these yaba tablets from his taxi.
These yaba tablets hiden inside the driver’s s seat, sources said. A case under narcotics act has been filed before the concerned police station, sources said.
