Detectives in a drive arrested two people and seized 1.20 lakh Yaba tablets from Moizzartek area under Karnaphuli police station yesterday morning.
Md Shahidullah, deputy commissioner of Detective Branch of Police, said being tipped off that a Yaba-laden covered-van was coming from Teknaf a team of DB police conducted the drive around 9am.
Later, they recovered the Yaba tablets and arrested the two people in connection this connection. The details about the arrestees could not be known yet.
UNB from Cox’s Bazar adds: Police in separate drives arrested three people along with 7,000 pieces of Yaba tablets worth of Tk 21 lakh in Chakaria upazila on Wednesday night.
Tipped off, a team of Malumghat highway police intercepted a bus of ‘Hanif Paribahan’ and arrested Nurussafa, 21, of Sadar upazila and Ayeas, 22, of Ramu uapzila along with 4,000 pieces of contraband tablets in the night, said Alamgir Hossain, in-charge of highway Police.
In another drive, the same team waylaid a bus of ‘Purbani’ and arrested Mongsai Aung, 26, of Ukhia upazila along with 3,000 pieces of Yaba pills.
Two separate cases were filed with Chakaria Police Station.
