Some 5 persons have so far been arrested by the police of Chitalmari PS in connection with the murder of one Shahid Shaikh (35) of village Barabaria under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district.
It may be mentioned here that an armed clash was taken place between two (2) groups of people over the playing of carom in the village (Barabria) on Tuesday .
As a result, Shahid Shaikh (35), the owner of the carom board was killed on the spot and his brother Saahid Shaikh (32) was fatally injured. They are the sons of one Fazlul Shaikh of the village. In this connection the younger brother of late Shahid Shaikh registered a case with Chitalmari PS on Wednesday (January (01) accusing 40 persons.
Police are trying to arrest the other accused persons.
According to the police, a tense situation has been prevailing in the village and a police squad was already deployed there in order to maintain the law and order situation of the village normal.
