A court here on Tuesday sentenced four people to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Ghior upazila in 2013.
The court also fined the lifers-Ripon Ullah, Delwar Hossain, Mahmudul Hasan Babu and Ismail Hossain Nuru-Tk 10,000 each.
District and sessions judge Mizanur Rahman Khan handed down the verdict in presence of the convicts.
According to the prosecution, the convicts demanded money from one Alim in Kusta Bridge area while he was going to Ghior bazar on July 13, 2013.
UNB from Chandpur adds A court here on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing a young man in a moving train in Chitoshi area of the district in 2013.
The court fined the condemned convict, Sadhon Hossain Kazi, 28, son of late Benu Kazi of Kathali (Dighirpara) area of Hajiganj upazila, Tk 5,000.
According to prosecution, Sadhon strangulated Monir Hossain, 25, in the train on February 6, 2013 over previous enmity..
