The Rapid Action Battalion in a drive arrested five persons when they were collecting fined money from people by identifying themselves as the officials of Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) in the city’s Jatrabari on Wedneday afternoon.
They are Liton Sikder, Ruman Sikder, Dulal Hossain, Ziaur Rahman, and Biplob Sarkar, said Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, Deputy Director of Legal and Media Wing of the RAB.
The arrested men confessed that they collected a large amount of money by cheating the people in city’s different areas in last few months, the RAB official said.
A case has been filed with the police station in this connection, he said.
