Tea seller's death: 5 cops to get departmental action

A police committee probing the death of a tea vendor in the city’s Mirpur has recommended for departmental action against five policemen for their negligence of duty and failure to keep the situation under control.
Masud Ahmed Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Mirpur Division), also the head of the two-member probe-body, on Tuesday submitted the report to Kaiumuzzaman, Deputy Commissioner (Mirpur Division). Earlier, another probe-committee recommended the punishment against the police personnel, said Maruf Hossain Sarder, DC (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The five policemen are former officer-in-charge of Shah Ali Police Station AKM Shahin Mandal, sub-inspector (SI) Mominur Rahman, SI Niazuddin Mollah, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jogendranath Sarker and Constable Jashim Uddin.
