At least five policemen were injured in a gunfight with an alleged gang of armed terrorists in Kaliajuri area of the city on Tuesday night.
Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch (DB) of police, said a team of DB police launched a drive in the area to arrest terrorists and recover firearms at about 9:00 pm.
Sensing the presence of police, a group of armed men fired gunshots at the law enforcers, triggering a gunfight that left five policemen injured with bullets.
Police arrested one named Roman in possession of a foreign-made pistol and five rounds of bullet from the spot.
The injured five policemen including three sub-inspectors-Shah Kamal Akand, Shahidul Islam and Alimuzzaman were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
