Five crude bombs were recovered from a toilet of the Arts Faculty Building and the Mokarram Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday morning at the time of the university’s 49th convocation.
Students spotted four crude bombs inside a toilet on the ground floor of the Arts Faculty building, said Sirajul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station.
A team of bomb disposal unit of Detective Branch (DB) rushed to the spot and recovered the bombs around 11:00am, the OC said.
The detectives also recovered a handmade bomb from near the entrance of Mokarram Bhaban, close to the university’s playground where the convocation ceremony was going on. No one was arrested in this connection.
DU Acting Proctor AM Amzad told The New Nation that there was, however, no disruption of the convocation. Adequate security measure were taken.
