5 ABT men indicted in blogger Babu killing case

The Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Wednesday framed charges against five accused in the Blogger Wasiqur Rahman Babu murder case. Judge Ziaur Rahman of the court framed charges and fixed August 4 to record the depositions of the witnesses in the case.
Wasiqur Rahman Babu, 27, was hacked to death allegedly by three cleaver-wielding youths at Begunbari under Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station in the city on
March 30, last year. Babu reported gave status in his face book against religion.
The mob detained two attackers with machetes from the spot. They were Jikrullah and Ariful Islam, Madrasa students. Another alleged attacker Md Junaid alias Taher managed to escape. Other two alleged attackers were Saiful Islam and Hasib alias Abdullah. The case docket says, the attackers are members of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).
On September 1, last year, the Detective Branch (DB) of Police submitted the charge sheet of the case in the court accusing the five.
Monir Hossain, brother-in-law of slain blogger Babu, filed the murder case against the alleged attackers with Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station.
