4th Convocation of DhIU held

The 4th convocation of Dhaka International University (DhIU) was held on its permanent campus at Ashulia in Dhaka recently.
On behalf of President Md Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of DhIU, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid presided over the convocation ceremony and conferred the degrees.
Prof Emeritus of Dhaka University Dr Anisuzzaman attended programme as the convocation speaker.
The convocation was also addressed by Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Abdul Mannan, Board of Trustees Chairman of DhIU Dr Shahidul Quadir Patwari, Israfil Alam MP, Vice-Chancellor of DhIU Prof AKM Mohsin and Vice-Chairman of Board of Trustees of DhIU Barrister Shamim Haider Patwari, Prof Syed Anwar Husain of Dhaka University, Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University Prof Mizanur Rahman, Treasurer of DhIU Professor Mainul Islam and Chairman of Quality Assurance Prof Meshbah Uddin Ahmed.
 While addressing the graduates, Nurul Islam Nahid said education is a power when it is applied to bring change in the society. He urged the fresh graduates to spread their light of achieved education towards those who are still behind in education.
“A group has been working to make the youths trackless for bringing back the country. So, the graduates must work to prevent the evil forces from the society,” the minister said.
Prof Anisuzzaman said, to create knowledge should be the prime motto of a university. The graduates are the asset of the nation. But there is absence of mentality to create knowledge among the graduates. It should be changed, he said.
Prof Abdul Mannan said, a good number of private universities are violating the Private University Act-2010. But the DhIU follows the rules and regulations of the Act.
A total of four students were given Chancellor’s Award, seven Vice-Chancellor’s Award and three Dean’s Award.
