In 4th batch of rehabilitation , 1,466 Rohingyas have left the Chattogram Boat Club in four ships for new accommodation in Bhasanchar. They started their journey yesterday at around 9:30 am.
Port Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Milon Mahmud said, 1,466 Rohingyas were sent to Bhasanchar around 9:30 am yesterday from Chattogram Boat Club premises.
Earlier, 3,446 Rohingyas were relocated to Bhasanchar in two phases in December 2020.
In the face of killings and torture in Myanmar, 8 lakh Rohingyas crossed the border and took refuge in Bangladesh from August 25, 2016. At present, the number of Rohingyas registered in 34 asylum camps in Ukhia and Teknaf is 1.1 million.
Bangladesh has been trying for a long time to repatriate these Rohingyas deported from Myanmar. Even then it was not possible to send them back to Myanmar. Internationally, the Rohingya have been repeatedly repatriated to Myanmar, but there has been no indication that the country will repatriate them.
