The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in several anti-drug raids arrested a total of 48 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6am on Thursday.
The DB in association with local police carried out the drives simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am of June 8, according to a DMP press release.
In separate anti-drug raids, police seized huge drugs from them.
During the anti-drug raids, police seized 13 grams and 30 puria (small packet) of heroin, 15.600 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 507 piece of contraband yaba tablets, 80 bottle of phensidyl and 21 drug inject from them, the release added.
38 separate cases were filed against the arrestees with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
