46 die from Covid-19 in 24 hrs

The country registered 46 more deaths and detected 3,234 more patients of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, says a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
With the new fatalities, the death toll now stands at 3,740 with the death rate being 1.32 percent. The total number of positive cases so far in the country stands at 2,82,344 with the fresh cases. The current infection rate strikes 21.87 percent, while the total infection rate is 20.48 percent.
The press release showed that in total 12,523 samples were tested in 86 laboratories across the country in the same period.
 About 3,234 coronavirus patients have recovered in the same span.
The total number of recoveries is 1,62,825 and the recovery rate 57.67percent, it added.
It said also that 821 people were put under isolation across the country in the last 24 hours.
According to the press release, among the deceased, 35 were males and 11 were females; while one was between 11-20 years, one between 21-30, three between 31-40 years, two between 41-50, 17 between 51-60 and 22 were above 60 years.
After registering its first coronavirus infected patients on March 8, Bangladesh is currently 16th in the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.
