Talking to BSS, both litchi growers and traders expressed satisfaction over bumper production, high price and excellent business of the seasonal fruit during the current season.
At the initial harvesting stage, every 100 pieces of local variety litchi were sold at rates between Taka 180 and 250 and high yielding varieties at rates between Taka 450 and 500, market sources said today.

“Commercial basis litchi cultivation has become popular bringing a silent economic revolution as hundreds of farmers achieved self-reliance everywhere in the division in recent years,” Mesbahul added.
Litchi trader Babu Mian and Fazlul Haque at Rangpur City Bazar Market told the national news agency that they witnessed an excellent litchi business to earn better profits following bumper production and lucrative market price this season.
Litchi growers Atiar Rahman, Shahidul Islam, Sultan Ahmed, Moshfikur Rahman and Mozaffar Ali said they earned excellent profits this year through farming litchi on commercial basis in their orchards.
