Some 45 poor and distressed women were imparted skill development training for improving their living and livelihood training through income-generating activities.
Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-Economic Development Organization (ASSEDO) and its Nodi O Jiban project organized the two-day training styled “Women Skill Development and Women Entrepreneurs Creation” at Char Narayanpur Union Parishad in Chapainawabgonj Sadar Upazila. Concern Worldwide and Irish Aid jointly supported the event.
District Facilitator (LGSP) Ashraful Islam, Union Parishad Chairman Alamgir Kabir, Sub Assistant Agriculture Officer Mominur Islam and Project Manager Nurul Islam attended the closing session yesterday afternoon.
They also distributed seven sewing machines among the beneficiary-trainees and 17 spray machines to the poor farmers of the locality.
Main thrust of the five-year Nadi O Jiban programme is to ensure food security of the extreme poor community through involving them in diversified productive and income generating activities.
According to the sources concerned, some 3144 targeted women of the flood and erosion ravaged Alatali and Narayanpur unions will be rehabilitated in phases through diversified interventions under the project.
As a result, women of farmers’ families will capable to getting involved in the respective productive ventures, proving their capabilities as good as the male counterparts.
