Chapainawabganj Correspondent :
A total of 44 candidates in which 18 for the post of chairman, 13 for vice chairman and 13 for women reserved seats filed nomination papers in sadar, Shibganj and Bholahat upazilas of Chapainawabganj district on Saturday to contest the upcoming upazila elections.
The election would be held on March 15 in the aforesaid three upazilas.
In sadar upazila, five candidates filed nomination papers for the post of the chairman, four for the post of vice chairman and three for reserved women seats. The chairman candidates are Advocate Shamsul Hoque of Awami League (AL), Tasiqul Islam Tosi of BNP, Mokhlesur Rahman of Jamaat, Advocate Neamul Hoque of JSD and Rokonuzzaman (Independent).
In Shibganj upazila four candidates filed nomination for the post of the chairman, four for the post of vice chairman and two for reserved women seats. Here the chairman candidates are Advocate Ataur Rahman of AL, Ashraful Hoque of BNP, Maolana Keramat Ali of Jamaat and Saidur Rahman (Independent).
In Bholahat upazila, nine candidates filed nomination for the post of the chairman, four for the post of vice chairman and eight for reserved women seats. The chairman candidates are Dr. Ashraful Alom Chunnu of AL, Babar Ali Biswas, Mozammel Hoque Chutu, Kawsarul Islam, Anwarul Islam, Mazharul Islam Putul, Iazdani Alim Al Razi Zoarge of BNP and Abdul Matin and Abdur Rashid (Independent).
