435 disable students get stipend

A total of 435 students from primary to under-graduation levels have received stipend worth about Taka over 22.44 lakh for continuing their studies.
The government under its Social Service Department (SSD) has distributed the money among students with disabilities of the district for 2016-17 fiscal.
The department has disbursed the stipend money among 263 students in primary level at the rate of Taka 500 per month, 115 students in secondary level at the rate of Taka 600 per month, 39 students in higher secondary level at the rate of Taka 700 per month and 18 students in under-graduation levels at the rate of Taka 1,200 per month.
The SSD distributed the money in three phases for one-year allowance (July 2016 to June 2017).
Deputy Director of the SSD Saha Alam said the government is implementing the social programme for improving the livelihood of the students who are physically and mentally disabled.
The beneficiaries are getting their respective allowance timely through their own bank accounts in a hassle-free manner, he added.
