42 CU Shibir activists sued

Some 42 leaders and activists of the Chittagong University (CU) chapter of Islami Chhatra Shibir were sued under explosives act on Saturday night.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Shah Newaz of Hathazari thana filed the case naming 30 Shibir leaders and activists including President of ICS, Sohrawardy Hall unit, Abdul Hakim and General Secretary (GS) Firoz Alam and against unidentified others.
Police on Saturday evening conducted a drive at an ICS rented house named “Dwip Manzil” on the campus and recovered several petrol bombs, huge iron rods, sticks, stones and seven Jihadi video cassettes from the house, said Mohammad Ismail, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hathazari police station.
“CU Shibir leaders used to live in the house and they planned the attack on the university teachers’ buses from the house located near Shibir dominated Sohrawardy Hall of the university”, the OC added.
Meanwhile, police recovered 18 cocktails from the hills near Alaol Hall and F Rahman Hall of the university this noon.
