Social organizations Provati radio Listener Club distributed warm clothes among cold hit people in balaganj area in the district on Saturday. The Provati radio Listener Club distributed 200 blankets among the cold-hit people in balagonj sadar area.
Director of Bangladesh radio D. Mir Shah Alam distributed the blankets at a function held at Upazilla Auditorium in the afternoon.
Sylhet Regional Director of Bangladesh radio Prodip Chandro Dash, Upazilla Agriculture Officer Abdul Malik, Abdul Gopur, Gourango Chandro Mondol, Azijur Rahman, Tipu Sultan, Sujibur Rahman, Happy Buegum, Shakib Ahmed among others were present.
Rajshahi Correspondent adds: A total of 2,000 cold-stricken distressed people in Char Alatali and Char Narayanpur Union Parishads under Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj district received blankets in two separate places under the UPs yesterday.
Agriculture Sustainable and Socio Economic Development (ASSEDO) under its “Nodi O Jiban Project-2” sponsored the warm clothes for the distressed and marginalised community to lessen their sufferings to some extent.
Uttara Bank Limited, Unnoyan Somonnoy and Concern Worldwide supported the endeavor initiated by corporate social responsibility programme of Bangladesh Bank. Main thrust of the five-year Nodi O Jiban programme is to ensure food security of the extreme poor community through involving them in diversified productive and income generating activities.
Under the scheme, the 3144-targeted families were also given seeds of different crops including wheat, black grams, maize, groundnut and potato, 145 goats and 12 sewing machines to recoup their losses caused by the devastated floods in last monsoon.
BSS from Rangpur reports: The BRAC Bank Limited distributed 1,130 pieces of blankets among the cold-stricken poor and distressed people of Mornea union under Gangachara upazila on Friday, concerned officials said here this evening.
The blankets were distributed at a ceremony arranged by BRAC Bank Limited at Mornea High School ground with Chairman of the School Governing Committee Shahjahan Kabir Shaju in the chair. Chairman of Mornea Union Parishad Abdul Hakim attended the ceremony and distributed the blankets among the cold-hit people as the chief guest.
Territorial Manager of BRAC Bank Limited Elias Hossain, its Associate Legal Aid Manager Shafi Ullah, Rangpur Area Manager Nahiduzzaman Shah Fakir and Mahiganj Area Manager were present, among others.
