Police has filed a charge sheet against 41 people in a case filed for the murders of 26 innocent Bangladeshis in Mizdah, Libya, last year.
Investigating officer (IO) and CID Inspector Aslam Ali filed the charge sheet under sections 6/7/8/10 of the human trafficking case and sections 302/326/26 of the penal code in the case lodged with capital’s Paltan Police Station.
Taking the charge sheet into cognizance, the Anti-Human Trafficking Offence Tribunal has dropped names of five accused from the case, tribunal prosecutor Sazzadul Haque Shihab told BSS on Tuesday.
The accused in the charge sheet are – Tanjid alias Tanjimul alias Tanjirul, 36, Jobor Ali, 62, Jafar Miah, 38, Swapan Miah, 29, Mintu Miah, 41, Shahin Babu, 45, Ali Hossain, 37, Amir Hossain, 55, Najrul Mollah, 43, Abdur Rob Morol, 40, Sajib Miah, 25, Munni Akter Ruposhi, 20, Robiul Miah, 42, Rubel Sheikh, 36, Asadul Jaman, 34, Baharul Alam, 67, Nazmul Hasan, 25, Helal Miah, 42, Kamaluddin, 52, Kamal Hossain, 40, Rashida Begum, 42, Nur Hossain Sheikh, 55, Imam Hossain Sheikh, 35, Akbar Hossain Sheikh, 32, Bulu Begum, 38, Julhash Sardar, 45, Dina Begum, 25, Shahdat Hossain, 30, Jahidul Alam, 42, Jakir Matubbar, 60, Liyakat Ali Sheikh, 50, Nasir Boyati, 25, Rezaul Boyati, 38, Haji Shahid Miah, 63, Khabir Uddin, 47, Pervej Hasan, Kawsar Munshi, 35, Mahbub Munshi, 53, Pervej Ahmed, 33, Nazrul Islam Sumon, 38, and Kawser, 40.

The IO in the charge-sheet pleaded to drop the names of five accused, as he could not find evidence in support of the allegations brought against two of them and did not find right names and addresses of three.
Human traffickers last year shot dead 30 people, including 26 Bangladeshis, in Mizdah, Libya and left 11 others injured in the attack. All the victims were trafficked to the war-torn African state en route to Europe.
Law enforcing agencies after the incident launched coordinated drives against the human trafficking gangs across the country and managed to arrest several suspected human traffickers.
Police on June 2, 2020, filed the case against 38.
